Community Rink

The rink saga

Three years ago we had a dream of a small, outdoor rink in the Prospect Communities.  Through the financial support of community partners such as The Prospect Road Recreation Association and the Chebucto West Community Health Board, we were able to buy the basic supplies needed to begin our project.

Year one (2015) was unsuccessful despite many hours of planning and setup, due to the ever-changing Nova Scotia weather and uneven terrain.

Year two we successfully created an outdoor rink which was open for use for a mere 36 hours, before it was buried in a major snowstorm.

We have taken the lessons from the last 2 years and have investigated a bigger and better option for the community in year 3 (and you know what they say about the 3rd try!), and will be strong enough to be used year after year.

Our original plans for fundraising this year included an Adult Dance, unfortunately, we were forced to cancel the dance due to low ticket sales.

We are not giving up!  The ROC, the not-for-profit operators of the PRCC, are currently investigating other funding opportunities.  Stay tuned for future announcements.
