Times are a changing…. and so are we! What would have been the 15th Annual Craft Crawl is now proudly, the 1st Annual Craft Market. With the opening of the new Prospect Road Community Centre the crawl will become an annual market and interest has been renewed!

The Craft Market will be held this year on Saturday, October 16th, 2010, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be over 100 tables available for rent and will be allotted on a first come first served basis. The members of the craft market are working diligently to create a fresh and exciting market for our local crafters and artisans as well as other talented people from HRM and surrounding areas.

Our next meeting, which will be held on August 9, at 7p.m. at the Prospect Road Community Centre, is the cut-off date for any new members wishing to join the group this year. Membership will require your attendance at the meetings, decision making on the structure of the market, and providing you with a vote on the design. A fee of $10.00 to become a member will be applied towards your first table or space. Also anyone joining the group will be asked to help set up the evening before the event as well as cleanup after.

Presently standards are being set for the market and will be presented at our next meeting. Once completed the name and phone numbers of the people to contact for table rentals will be made available.

As in the past, the Ladies Auxiliary of St. Timothy’s Church, will have an area set up so that you can enjoy a leisurely lunch, only this year it will be conveniently located on site at the Community Centre.

Shoppers will find an array of hand-crafted gifts for anyone on their list! Support for your local community is greatly appreciated.

jessica_mAhoy! from PRCC where it was all hands on deck this week as the theme was “Pirate Week”. The centre saw many mischievous captains, first mates and landlubbers and by Friday it was time to batten down the hatches with yet another successful week under our belt.

Our Summertime Adventure Camp this week took all necessary actions to transform into pirates including making pirate hats and going on a scavenger hunt where in the end they found a treasure chest full of gold; chocolate gold that is.

Our specialty camp this week was Basketball Camp for the second week this summer. The returning campers are truly improving their skills and the new campers are certainly learning lots. The camp continued to learn many fundamental skills through a variety of drills and fun games.

More exciting things happened this week at PRCC. We announced that we would be offering another week of summer camp at the end of August, also a variety of new specialty camps were announced. See the lists below for further details and be sure to sign up soon as space is limited and if not enough children are registered we will have to unfortunately cancel the program. We hosted our Zumba, Dance Fit and All In One Fitness samplers which were all full classes. These classes were very popular and are a strong possibility for full programs in the fall.

BBQSeniors from Goodwood to West Dover are invited to the Seniors Network Annual BBQ, which will be held on Wednesday, 11 August , starting at 1 p.m., at the SS Atlantic Site Terrence Bay.

Charge will be $2.00, payable at the Site. We had 85 Seniors turn out for this event last year.

This year our local Choir “Voices of the Sea”, will be joining us, to help us raise our voices in song. Peter Jollimore, of HRM Recreation Department , will be assisting us with the BBQ again this year, along with his “recreation youth volunteers”, who were a great hit with the Seniors last year.
